Eterinis čiobrelių aliejus gaminamas iš vaistinių čiobrelių (Thymus vulgaris L.) žydinčių viršūnių ir lapų vandens distiliacijos metodu.
Čiobrelių vartojimo istorija labai sena. IV tūkstantmetyje prieš Kristų šumerai vartojo šiuos augalus gydymo tikslais. Senovėje juos naudojo lavonų balzamavimui, taip pat sergant epilepsija, virškinimo gerinimui, nuo gyvačių įkandimo, nuo utėlių, gydė marą, paralyžių, raupsus, melancholiją, vartojo ir kaip smegenų veiklos stimuliatorių. Nagų stiprinimo vonelei: 3 lašai aliejaus su emulgatoriumi į 1 litrą vandens.
Kosmetikai: 3 lašai į 5 g kremo, toniko, šampūno ar losjono.
Aromatinei lempai: 3–5 lašai 5 kv.m patalpos ploto.
Nepatartina vartoti nėščiosioms ir sergantiems kepenų, inkstų, širdies ligomis, epilepsija.
